Rebecca Ferguson Could Join Michael Fassbender for 'The Snowman' and 'Alien: Paradise Lost'

While Mission: Impossible is unquestionably Tom Cruise's franchise (sorry Jeremy Renner!), nobody was talking about him after 'Rogue Nation'. Instead they were too blown away by the emergence of Rebecca Ferguson who stole the show right out from under Cruise's feet. And ever since then she has been arguably the most sought-after actress in Hollywood, recently taking on a key role in The Girl On the Train, which is expected to be huge. Now she's up for even bigger projects, another blockbuster franchise.

First up, Ferguson is negotiating to join Michael Fassbender in The Snowman, an adaptation of the popular book in Joe Nesbo's series centering on Oslo detective Harry Hole. While Ferguson's role is unknown, the case Harry is investigating involves a serial killer who murders women and leaves their belongings on snowmen. She may turn out to be one of the victims or someone who helps solve the case. Tomas Alfredson (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) is directing, having taken over from Martin Scorsese who sticks around as producer.

And because Ferguson can't get enough of Fassbender she's also being looked at for a role in Alien: Paradise Lost, Ridley Scott's sequel to Prometheus. The lastest screenplay apparently has a major female lead role that doesn't involve Noomi Rapace, and Scott, along with execs at 20th Century Fox, want Ferguson for it. No deals are in place yet for that one, and if she does sign on it there shouldn't be any conflict with The Snowman.

On top of that she's eyeing the lead role in Mike Newell's Guernsey (aka The Guernsey Literary Society and Potato Peel Society, and then there's potentially another Mission: Impossible film in her future. [Deadline]
