Jack O'Connell and Nicholas Hoult Circle Beatles Film 'A Life In The Day'

Much has been made about the extremely close relationship between The Beatles' John Lennon and their manager, Brian Epstein. Some, including Lennon's wife Yoko Ono, have speculated the two may have been lovers, as Epstein's homosexuality was an open secret among the group and his friends. Recently there have been numerous attempts to develop a film about Epstein, one led by Tom Hanks and another by Ant-Man director Peyton Reed, neither of which has come to fruition yet. But now another one is in the works, and it's attracted the attention of Nicholas Hoult and Jack O'Connell.

According to Deadline, both young actors are circling roles in A Life In the Day, which is penned by Tony Gittleson and may be directed by Tulip Fever's Justin Chadwick. The flamboyant Epstein, who would be played by Hoult, managed the Beatles from 1961-67 before his death at the age of 32. O'Connell would take on the difficult task of playing Lennon, who has said Epstein was the glue that kept the group together and it was his death that was "the beginning of the end".

No deals have been signed yet, and it will be interesting to see how this one develops. Reed's film, titled The Fifth Beatle, has secured the Beatles' music rights, so using those is out of the question.
