James McAvoy Joins Charlize Theron In Spy Thriller 'The Coldest City'
There's a mix of good news and bad news when it comes to spy thriller The Coldest City, which a few months ago had John Wick directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch with Charlize Theron as their lead. The bad news is that the duo will be splitting up so that Stahelski can press ahead with John Wick 2. Leitch takes the reins solo, which really isn't so bad, but the really good news is that James McAvoy is joining the cast.
McAvoy and Theron star in the Cold War film penned by Kurt Johnstad (300) and based on the graphic novel by Antony Johnston. While McAvoy's role is unclear, Theron plays super agent Lorraine Broughton who must find the explosive evidence carried by an MI6 agent killed on the eve of the Berlin Wall's collapse.
This is the second film McAvoy has signed up for in recent weeks as he replaced Joaquin Phoenix in M. Night Shyamalan's next film. The Coldest City will come first, though, as filming begins next month. [Variety]
