Jennifer Aniston and Jack Huston Join Iraq War Drama 'The Yellow Birds'

There have been some significant changes for Iraq War drama The Yellow Birds, a film that was looking like the follow-up film for Ain't Them Bodies Saints director, David Lowery. And he assembled a great cast with Benedict Cumberbatch, Will Poulter, and Tye Sheridan. The busy Lowery, who is currently working on Disney's remake of Pete's Dragon, has had to step aside, but he didn't go alone as Cumberbatch and Poulter also dropped out. That leaves Sheridan as the only original cast member, and now he's being joined by Jack Huston, Jennifer Aniston, Alden Ehrenreich, and new director Alexandre Moors.

THR reports that Huston is taking on the role opened up by Cumberbatch's departure, while Ehrenreich replaces Poulter. Lowery co-wrote the film with author Kevin Powers based on the latter's book, with the story centering on two young Iraq War soldiers (Ehrenreich and Sheridan) who become friends in boot camp and make promises to protect one another. As the war rages on they discover it's a promise that will be very hard to keep. Aniston will play Sheridan's mother, while Huston is Staff Sgt. Sterling.

Moors is best known for directing Blue Caprice, a terrific film about DC sniper John Allen Muhammed. Ehrenreich last appeared in Blue Jasmine and has a role in the Coen Brothers' Hail Caesar! Huston will be seen next slashing up the Victorian undead in Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, while Aniston can be seen right now as part of Peter Bogdanovich's screwball comedy, She's Funny That Way.
