The next big superhero film is undoubtedly Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Warner Bros. knows exactly what they have on their hands. This isn't the X-Men where, let's be honest, most people could care less about them individually, and the same kind of goes for The Avengers. But everybody knows Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, which makes the prospect of them squaring off a major deal. How major? According to Latino Review the film could cost as much as $410M, an astronomical figure by any stretch. Take it with a grain of salt, though, these kinds of numbers tend to get inflated.
Total Film has a handful of "new" images which really aren't that new at all, but let's just go with it. Better is Henry Cavill's reveal of the magazine's cover image which features him, Ben Affleck, and Gal Gadot, giving us yet another look at them standing around in costume as a triumvirate.
The cast is also making the press rounds a bit early, but what's interesting is how they can't really talk about anything. Scoot McNairy, whose role in the film has yet to be confirmed although he's expected to play Jimmy Olsen, can only talk vaguely about the movie's tone with We Got This Covered...
“This is the superhero film that is more grounded in reality than any of the other ones. It’s a comic book movie, yes, but it’s very, very grounded."
Amy Adams is a little more open in describing one of Lois Lane's scenes in the film, one that has her in the same room as Superman and Batman. She tells THR...
"I can’t give too much away, but I’m coming into a scene and Batman and Superman are both in the scene, so I can say that. And it was just fun. Because they had been working together for a couple weeks and just running it, seeing this dynamic. I’ll talk about this when we’re promoting the movie and we can tell more. But there were definitely funny moments involving bat-suits and such.”
And then there's Michael Shannon, who is returning even though his General Zod got his neck snapped in Man of Steel. How's that possible? Kryptonians don't know when to quiet down, even in death. He tells Cinemablend...
“Yeah, I say some stuff. But not a whole lot! I mean, I am dead. I’m just like a ghost. It’s kind of like Russell Crowe in the first one. Jor-El. For some reason, these Kryptonian spirits, they linger. Even once you crack my neck, you can’t shut me up.”
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens March 25th 2016.
