'Paddington 2' is Happening with Paul King Back as Director

Hard to believe that Paddington was actually this year. It feels like something that came out in 2014, but it actually opened in January, and audiences both here and abroad fell in love with the marmalade-loving. raincoat-wearing bear. The film earned more than $250M worldwide, and so it's no surprise that a sequel is on the way with original director, Paul King.

Deadline reports that producer David Heyman and StudioCanal, who invested everything into the first film and struck gold, have managed to lure King back. Paddington Bear has been a proven commodity in the U.K. for years but what was surprising is how well American audiences received it. King will be working on the screenplay with Simon Farnaby, and Heyman, who produced the Harry Potter series, will be giving them as much time as possible to help build Paddington into a long-running franchise.

Here's hoping they bring back Nicole Kidman as villainous taxidermist Millicent Clyde.
