Everybody knows who Stan Lee is. Even if you don't know your Spider-Man from a Spider bite you know he's the guy who created classic characters like Spidey, Fantastic Four, the Hulk, the X-Men, and more. And now he's launching a brand new venture and taking a global approach to his latest superhero creation. Lee has cast Li Bingbing to play his first Chinese superhero in a film titled Realm.
Bingbing will be familiar to American audiences from Transformers: Age of Extinction and Resident Evil: Retribution. Realm is a joint venture between Stan Lee Global Entertainment and China's Fundamental Films, and will feature a screenplay by Predators writer Alex Litvak.
There are no details on the Realm's plot, or on who the director will be. Presumably we can count on Lee to make some kind of hilarious cameo? He certainly sounds excited for the project, although he refrained from shouting "Excelsior!" in his statement....
"What a kick it has been to create our first Chinese female superhero, and an empowering one at that. It has been such a fun experience bringing to life an international woman character, and the ability to do so has been different from anything we've ever done!"
