Taron Egerton Stuck Between Shooting 'Kingsman 2' and 'Robin Hood: Origins' in 2016

There's a great deal of confusion surrounding a sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service, and only some of it has to do with the return of a presumably dead character. The hit film made a star out of Taron Egerton, and he's been mentioned for numerous high-profile gigs ever since. One that he nabbed was the lead role in Robin Hood: Origins, which Lionsgate plans to build into a major franchise. If Egerton is going to do both films, something is going to need to be worked out.

According to THR, 20th Century Fox hopes to start filming on Kingsman 2 next April, but that's a problem because Robin Hood: Origins is aiming for a February shoot and won't be completed. Since Fox has a sequel option on Egerton he would have to give them priority...however, the film doesn't have a script ready at all. And it may be a while before they do which is why director Matthew Vaughn is already taking other gigs to pass the time.  Vaughn is writing the Kingsman 2 screenplay and is expected to direct it, although he hasn't confirmed anything. That puts Robin Hood: Origins in a better position to get moving first, which is what may happen if the studios can work out some kind of deal for Egerton's time.

Hey, this is what comes with being a sought-after young star. Egerton really is a tremendous talent, and if you want to see what he can do in something more dramatic, check him out in Testament of Youth. As for Kingsman 2, there simply aren't many details yet but we should learn more as production gets closer.
