'The Flash' Movie to be Directed by 'Dark Shadows' Writer Seth Grahame-Smith
While fans of The Lego Movie duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller may have hoped they would direct Warner Bros.' The Flash, the studio has a more offbeat choice in mind. According to THR, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter writer and author Seth Grahame-Smith is in talks to direct the speedster's movie, which is due out in 2018.
Grahame-Smith makes for an unexpected choice as his film career has seen him most closely associated with Tim Burton. The two worked together on Dark Shadows and will again for Beetlejuice 2. He adapted his own screenplay for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and next year his book Pride & Prejudice & Zombies finally hits the big screen after years of development. The Flash will mark his directorial debut so he must have really impressed Warner Bros. with his pitch as he'll also be writing the screenplay. He's also writing the studio's Lego Batman which makes him something of a known commodity.
With Zack Snyder, Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman), David Ayer (Suicide Squad), James Wan (Aquaman), and now Grahame-Smith, Warner Bros. is rounding out an interesting group of filmmakers for their DC Universe projects. The Flash isn't expected to race into theaters until March 23rd 2018 with Ezra Miller (We Need to Talk About Kevin) as the scarlet speedster.
