Watch the Gritty Full Trailer for Marvel's 'Jessica Jones' with Krysten Ritter

While Marvel's Netflix series will all feature gritty, street-level heroes, Jessica Jones promises to be a little different. The original Brian Michael Bendis comic, titled Alias, was never about superheroics or even necessarily about fighting crime. It was a character study about a flawed, damaged woman who had been chewed up and spit out by her time as a costumed hero, and the over-arching story was how she reclaimed some sense of normalcy.

But it's a hard, tough road, one filled with graphic sex (a controversial scene from the comics will be in the series as well) and violence of a more personal nature. The first full trailer for the film hints at most of this, while also giving us our first really good look at Krysten Ritter in the lead role. Her relationship with Luke Cage (Mike Colter), who will become very important in her life (they marry in the comics) is also at the center of it, along with the mind-controlling villain Kilgrave (David Tennant).

Also starring Carrie-Anne Moss, Rachael Taylor, Erin Moriarty, Eka Darville, and Wil Traval, Jessica Jones hits Netflix on November 20th.
