Will Smith gives Update on 'Bad Boys 3', Plans Reunion Tour with DJ Jazzy Jeff
"Parents just don't understand"? Nah, only your parents could possibly understand what it means for Will Smith to be going on tour again with his pal DJ Jazzy Jeff. The Fresh Prince revealed on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 radio show that he and Jazzy Jeff are set to go on tour some time in 2016. He also provided an update on Bad Boys 3, which may be coming to theaters sooner than previously thought.
Smith recently took the mic and busted a rap on Bomba Estereo's "Fiesta" remix, the first time he's rapped in about a decade. But it sounds like that's only the beginning for the Fresh Prince who says he's recorded more than 20 new tracks with more on the way. He's also "pretty certain" that a world tour with DJ Jazzy Jeff will happen next year. The two haven't collaborated on a full album since 1993's "Code Red", which wasn't very good. He went on to pursue a solo career full-time after that, while Jazzy Jeff went on to have a great solo recording career.
Meanwhile, Smith also confirmed that Bad Boys 3 is a very real thing, saying it's a "very, very, very strong possibility that" it will happen in the next 12-18 months. Sounds like he's officially on board now after there was some speculation he would only produce. Last we heard Joe Carnahan was in talks to write and direct, taking over for Michael Bay who doesn't seem to have any involvement. Of course Martin Lawrence, who has spent years begging for the film to happen, will return as Smith's chatty partner.
So based on Smith's time frame we could see Bad Boys 3 late next year or in early 2017. The latter is closer to the original projections, with Bad Boys 4 penciled in for 2019.
