Helen Mirren gets Bryan Cranston Blacklisted in New Trailer for 'Trumbo'

We joke about Hollywood blacklisting certain filmmakers or actors when their movies flop at the box office, but there was a time when being blacklisted was no laughing matter. In 1947 the House Un-American Activities Committee began a witch hunt looking to expose supposed Communist agents in the industry. One of those who was swept up in their net was Oscar-winning screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, and his career was ruined without committing a single crime.

His story is being told in Trumbo, with Bryan Cranston in the title role. It's a rare leading performance for the Breaking Bad star, but he seems more than up to the challenge in this new international trailer. Trumbo would eventually win Oscars for Roman Holiday and The Brave One all while using a pseudonym.

Jay Roach (The Campaign) directs with Helen Mirren, Diane Lane, Alan Tudyk, Elle Fanning, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Louis C.K., and Adewale Akkinuoye-Agbage co-star. Trumbo hits theaters on November 6th, and look out for a major a push to get Cranston some awards season love.
