Ice Cube Is Back In Business In The First 'Barbershop: The Next Cut' Trailer

Ice Cube's Barbershop movies were one of the first to use the proven model we've seen used effectively today; cast a diverse array of popular minority actors and actresses, giving them a rare chance to shine. The first film earned a healthy $77M and launched a franchise that included a TV series and the Beauty Shop spinoff led by Queen Latifah. And now years later Cube has brought the gang back together again for more hairstyles and shop talk with Barbershop: The Next Cut.

The first trailer has Cube alongside Cedric the Entertainer, Sean Patrick Thomas, Queen Latifah, Keke Palmer, Common, Nicki Minaj, Eve, Anthony Anderson, Regina Hall, and other stars both new and old to the series. Officially this is the fourth film in the franchise but the first to be directed by Malcolm D. Lee, best known for The Best Man comedies, which feature some of the same players. So what's this one about? It seems the gals have invaded the barbershop space that once belonged solely to the guys, and of course sparks are gonna fly when that happens.

Barbershop: The Next Cut opens April 15th 2016.
