It's perhaps unfair to keep comparing Terrence Malick's films to The Tree of Life, a swooning, lyrical experience that earned an Oscar nomination for Best Picture. But it's a comparison Malick's approach seems to invite, and while his most recent film To The Wonder failed to measure up (not even close, actually) there's still hope for his next feature, the long-awaited Knight of Cups.
Unfortunately, early reviews out of Berlin were mixed for the Hollywood-set drama, which stars Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, Cate Blanchett, and a ton of celebrity cameos that may or may not have been cut out in the two year-long post-production process. It's worth noting that this trailer seems to be identical to the one released almost a year ago, unless I'm missing something.
Knight of Cups finally opens on March 4th 2016.
