Here comes Leonardo DiCaprio! With Alejandro Gonazalez Inarritu's survival drama The Revenant earning all kinds of rave reviews (we screen it this week finally), DiCaprio stands as a likely candidate for the Oscar race. Considering the physical turmoil he and the film's cast and crew went through to get it made this may be his best shot to earn that elusive first victory.
Co-starring Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson, Will Poulter, and Lukas Haas, DiCaprio plays Hugh Glass, an early 18th-century fur trapper left for dead after a bear attack. Miraculously surviving, he sets out to get revenge on his team that left him behind. And judging by this new TV spot it may be the grittiest, most visceral performance DiCaprio has ever given, and one Hell of a departure for Inarritu after last year's Oscar-winning Birdman.
The Revenant hits theaters on Christmas Day.
