Following last night's devastating mid-season finale of The Walking Dead, AMC tried to lure you into watching Into the Badlands by providing a 2-minute promo for the second half of the season. And it's something fans of the comic book will definitely want to check out. There are some small spoilers here for anyone who hasn't watched last night's episode.
In the footage we see Abraham, Sasha, and Daryl still on their own until they encounter a heavily-armed group of bikers blocking the road. After being ordered out of the vehicle they are told by one of them that everything they own now belongs to Negan, a name that will be very familiar to those who read Robert Kirkman's comic. He's the leader of the militia group known as the Saviors, who use violence to subjugate other communities. Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen) was cast as Negan a few weeks ago, but this is the first time the character has been mentioned in the TV series.
Let's just say he promises to turn everything upside down. In the comics he or his men kill a couple of very important characters, and Negan forms a really disturbing relationship with Rick's son, Carl. I'm not expecting things to play out exactly as they did in the books, but definitely some fan-favorites are on thin ice.
The Walking Dead returns to AMC on February 14th. Oooh, what a Valentine's Day that'll be.
