While we're gearing up to announce the WAFCA Awards winners tomorrow morning at 8am (I'll be part of the announcement as usual), our colleagues on the west coast have delivered their top honors today. The Los Angeles Film Critics Association named Spotlight the best movie of 2015, firming up its spot as the clear Oscar favorite in the category.
The winner of the most awards went to Mad Max: Fury Road, however, with three awards for Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, and Best Director for George Miller. The acting categories were off the usual tract with Michael Shannon winning Best Supporting Actor for his role in 99 Homes and Alicia Vikander taking Best Supporting Actress for Ex Machina rather than The Danish Girl.
