Shailene Woodley Tells 'Big Little Lies', John Goodman Joins 'Valerian', Kate Upon Boards 'The Disaster Artist'

Shailene Woodley may be moving to the small screen for David E. Kelley's HBO event series, Big Little Lies. Nicole Kidman, who is part of the cast along with Reese Witherspoon, revealed Woodley's casting at India’s Hindustan Times Leadership Summit. The series is based on Liane Moriarty's book centering on three troubled mothers of kindergarten age kids whose lives spin violently out of control. Next up for Woodley is a role in Snowden opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt. [Variety]

Hot on the heels of Ethan Hawke's casting in Luc Besson's sci-fi adventure, Valerian, comes word that John Goodman is joining him.  Already set to star Dane DeHaan as the titular temporal agent, with Cara Delevingne, Rihanna, and Clive Owen co-starring, the film is based on the 1967 graphic novel by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres. Goodman will voice a CG-animated alien character. Filming begins next month for release on July 21st 2017. [TheWrap]

James Franco's film based on the making of The Room has added Kate Upton, Ari Graynor, Jacki Weaver, Andrew Santino, and Hannibal Burress to a cast that already includes Franco, his brother Dave, Josh Hutcherson, and Seth Rogen. Titled The Disaster Artist, the film will be directed by Franco and is based on the book by Greg Sestero, one of the stars of what many consider the king of all terrible movies. It became a cult classic despite being so awful. [THR]
