'Star Trek Beyond' Trailer To Debut Ahead Of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

Wasn't there some kind of rivalry between Star Trek and Star Wars fans? Like you couldn't be fans of both you had to pick one or the other? Apparently those days are long done because it's really all about money these days, which is why Star Wars: The Force Awakens will now be preceded by a trailer for Paramount's Star Trek Beyond

On the one hand it makes sense because J.J. Abrams is involved with both projects. After directing the first two Star Trek movies he's now on board as a producer. Justin Lin (Fast & Furious franchise) will direct with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Idris Elba, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Karl Urban, and Anton Yelchin starring.

Other blockbuster 2016 films likely to have trailers include Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (March 25), Universal's The Huntsman: Winter's War, (April 22), X-Men: Apocalypse (May 27) and Independence Day: Resurgence (June 24). There may also be trailers for Captain America: Civil War, Finding Dory, and The Jungle Book since they are all from Disney.

Star Trek Beyond opens July 22nd 2016.
