Battles Soar In New 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword Of Destiny' Trailer

Foreign films don't do much better here in America than Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon did way back in 2000 (don't you feel old?). Ang Lee's Chinese wuxia drama scored 10 Oscar nominations, winning 4 of them including Best Foreign Language Film, and incredibly earned the majority of its $213M box office domestically. After 16 years can that kind of success be replicated? Probably not on the financial end but Netflix is hoping strong critical reviews for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon : Sword of Destiny will open the door for more high-end dramas on the streaming service.

A new trailer for the long-awaited sequel has been released, and it will be instantly familiar to fans of the original. Michelle Yeoh is back as Yu Shu-Lien, wielding the power "Green Destiny" sword. Donnie Yen, Harry Shum Jr., and Jason Scott Lee are also on board the film directed by the great Yuen Woo-ping, who choreographed the action sequences for The Matrix, The Grandmaster, and more. And that's not all of the talent attached to this one behind the scenes as Peter Berg and Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game) are on board as producers.

Woo-ping's influence can be immediately seen in the aerial combat sequences, which are faster yet just as beautiful as before. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny hits Netflix on February 26th.
