There aren't a ton of questions surrounding Marvel's Captain America: Civil War, except for maybe if Cap will even live through it. But one mystery that has remained unsolved for months is the role played by Martin Freeman, star of The Hobbit and TV's Sherlock series. One of the earliest rumors suggested he would be Everett K. Ross, a character fans of the Black Panther comics will be very familiar with. And it turns out, those rumors were true.
Empire broke the news in their upcoming issue, revealing that Ross will be working alongside Emily VanVamp's Agent 13 as part of the Joint Counter Terrorist Centre. In the awesome comics run written by Christopher Priest, Ross is an attache assigned to Wakanda, who becomes a sidekick in a sense to Black Panther as he deals with multiple international threats. Ross was mostly a comedic character back then, but it doesn't look like that will be the case in the movie. It's expected that Freeman will make the jump to the Black Panther solo film starring Chadwick Boseman.
Meanwhile, there are a handful of new photos to check out, including looks at the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), a staredown between Cap (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), and the villain Crossbones (the returning Frank Grillo) who could prove to be pivotal if the storyline goes as the Captain America comics did. Plus we get a glimpse of Freeman and VanCamp looking all business-like.
Captain America: Civil War opens May 6th.
