Vin Diesel's 'XXX: The Return Of Xander Cage' Gets January 2017 Date

Unbelievably, it's been 14 years since Vin Diesel's first solo franchise flick, XXX, and since that time he's been keeping plenty busy. Obviously the Fast & Furious movies are what he most often calls home, but he also has the Chronicles of Riddick movies, Guardians of the Galaxy, and the occasional stab at something new, like The Last Witch Hunter. But now he's back as the extreme secret agent in XXX: The Return of Xander Cage, and Paramount has just given the film a release date of January 20th 2017.

As of right now there's no other competition on that date, but don't expect that to stay the case. The third XXX film is more of a follow-up to the original and not the 2005 sequel, XXX: State of the Union, which starred Ice Cube and had Diesel's character killed off. Perhaps he was a life model decoy or something?

Whatever the case, Xander Cage has returned (hence the title) from a self-imposed exile to take on a villain named Xiang, played by martial arts superstar, Donnie Yen. Samuel L. Jackson is reprising his role as Augustua Gibbons, joined by Deepika Padukone, Toni Collette, Ruby Rose, Conor McGregor, Tony Jaa, and Nina Dobrev.
