Anthony Mackie Enters 'Wastelands', John Goodman Joins 'Patriots Day', 'The Bachelors' Adds Odeya Rush

A pair of superhero actors from the Marvel and DC realm are set to star in Wetlands, which has nothing to do with comic books at all. Captain America: Civil War's Anthony Mackie and Suicide Squad's Adewale Akkinuoye-Agbage will headline the dark romantic thriller written and directed by Emanuele Della Valle. Referred to by The Tracking Board as a "noir of redemption" that centers on Babel “Babs” Johnson (Akinnuoye-Agbaje) who attempts to rebuild his life in bleak Atlantic City and win back the respect of his beloved daughter, while his crazy ex wife Savannah lives with her new young love interest, a punk looking Surfer Girl who is also a local drug dealer. Babs enters this hostile land via his new partner Sheehan, a gregarious and loud Irish detective and his wife Kate, the local celebrity Anchorwoman. Now Babs will have to fight to protect the lives of the people he loves. Filming is expected to kick off next month.

While he can currently be seen delivering a haunting performance in 10 Cloverfield Lane, John Goodman has lined up his next supporting role. He'll join Mark Wahlberg and J.K. Simmons in Patriots Day, the Peter Berg-directed film centering on the police and FBI response to the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013. Goodman will play former Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis, who was key in coordinating the effort to locate the terrorists responsible.

And speaking of J.K. Simmons films; he's been joined in The Bachelors by young stars Josh Wiggins (Max) and Odeya Rush (The Giver). Julie Delpy is already on board the comedy drama about a widower and his 17-year-old son who move from their small town to Los Angeles, where a wry old friend a pair of extraordinary women, a new job, and more help to give them a fresh start. Filming begins in a few days with  Kurt Voelker directing.
