Marvel's 'Luke Cage' Powers Up On Netflix This September
Marvel and Netflix have settled into a steady groove of series premieres, release dates, and casting announcements so that we never go too long without some new info. Most recently the buzz has been surrounding the casting of Iron Fist, but next week also brings the debut of Daredevil's second season. And now we're learning when Netflix's Hero for Hire, Luke Cage, will be hitting the small screen.
Mike Colter revealed that Luke Cage will hit the streaming service on this fall on September 30th, a couple of months earlier than expected. The news was then confirmed by Marvel and Netflix, who will be dropping all 13 episodes of the series on that date. Colter made his debut as Cage on the highly successful first season of Jessica Jones, which will also be receiving a second season at some point. Eventually all of the Netflix heroes will unite in a Defenders crossover.
Luke Cage will also feature Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Frank Whaley as detective Rafael Scarfe, House of Cards' Mahershala Ali as Cottonmouth, Theo Rossi as Shades, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, who seems to be a uniting force throughout Netflix's Marvel shows. If the series is anything like the comic book that introduced Cage, it will be exploring a number of hot-button issues such as police brutality, race, and more.
