Remember a few weeks ago when Warner Bros. seemed really concerned Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice would fail at the box office? With a budget estimated at $250M on the conservative side, they'll need a huge opening weekend, and early reports seem to be trending in the right direction.
According to Deadline, pre-order ticket sales on 'Batman v Superman' are tracking ahead of Deadpool, The Avengers, and Furious 7, all of which went on to be huge hits. The studio's projections have it possibly opening with roughly the same numbers as The Dark Knight Rises' $160M domestic, while worldwide it could top $300M-$340M. These are not insignificant numbers, let's just say that. If they hold true, the film would be the biggest Easter and April weekend premiere ever and would a confidence builder going into this summer's Suicide Squad.
Of course, these are just early tracking estimates and could change considerably, but right now the Justice League universe is looking pretty strong. If the film actually outperforms The Avengers will that be enough to sway the Marvel-ites who bash Warner Bros.' every move? We shall see when March 25th arrives. For now, check out a batch of high-res photos and a featurette.
