Ellar Coltrane And Jason Mitchell Join Latest Barack Obama Film, 'Barry'
Hey, if you're going to make a movie about the first African-American President of the United States, now is a pretty good time. Not including lame Dinesh D'Souza "documentaries" assassinating the President's character, there's Southside with You which recently premiered at Sundance and centers on his first date with Michelle. And now there's Barry, a film that is gathering a cast of up 'n coming stars for a story on Obama's college life.
Straight Outta Compton's Jason Mitchell and Boyhood's Ellar Coltrane have joined Barry, which centers on Obama's time in New York as a student at Columbia College, forging the relationships that would shape his ideals. Devon Terrell and The Witch breakout Anya Taylor-Joy were cast in the film earlier this month.
It's unclear if the supporting stars will be playing real figures in Obama's life or fictionalized characters. Filming begins later this month with "Vice" correspondent Vikram Gandhi directing. [Variety]
