First Trailer For Seth Rogen's R-Rated Animated Comedy, 'Sausage Party'
Right now the #1 movie in the country and the watercooler film of the moment is Disney's Zootopia, an animated comedy that appeals to kids and parents alike. But is the world ready for an animated film unabashedly is NOT for the kids? Last night SXSW hosted the work-in-progress premiere of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's CG-animated comedy, Sausage Party, which has long promised to be about as R-rated as they come. Now the first trailer has debuted and that promise has definitely been kept. Parents, you'll want to keep the children away from this one.
Featuring the voices of Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd, Nick Kroll, David Krumholtz, Edward Norton, and Salma Hayek, this oddball film centers on a sausage that leads other edible grocery items on a quest to find out what their lives truly mean. With the 4th of July right around the corner, the sausage must journey through the store and warn the others that being "chosen" isn't such a good thing.
Crazy concept, right? But it's also one that makes a strange amount of sense. Why would talking food items be happy about anything? What are those M&Ms on TV so cheery about? Their whole purpose is to be bought and eaten, not to live happily ever after. Basically this is exactly the kind of 'toon you would expect from the minds behind Superbad, Pineapple Express, and This is the End.
Sausage Party opens on August 12th.
