Naomi Watts Enters 'The Glass Castle', Michelle Monaghan Joins 'Patriots Day', Grant Gustin Shines To 'Krystal'

There was a switcheroo on Lionsgate's adaptation of The Glass Castle a few months ago when Brie Larson came on to replace Jennifer Lawrence. Now the Oscar winner is getting some Oscar nominated help with the addition of Naomi Watts to the cast.  Destin Cretton, who worked with Larson on Short Term 12, is directing the film based on Jeanette Walls' best-selling memoir about her childhood being raised by dysfunctional parents. Woody Harrelson has already been cast as her charismatic but alcoholic father, while Watts will play her eccentric mother. Filming begins this June. [THR]

Mark Wahlberg is being joined in the Boston Marathon bombing drama, Patriots Day, by Michelle Monaghan who will play his wife. Wahlberg stars in the Peter Berg-directed film as Sgt. Tommy Saunders, with John Goodman as Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis and J.K. Simmons as Watertown cop Jeffrey Pugliese in an account of the events leading up to the 2013 bombing and the manhunt that ensued afterwards to find the terrorists.[Deadline]

The Flash's Grant Gustin has been a little too busy saving Central City to focus on his movie career, but apparently he's found a little time for the next directorial effort by William H. Macy. Gustin has joined the cast of Krystal, a dramedy which already stars Rosario Dawson, Nick Robinson, Felicity Huffman, T.I., Kathy Bates, and John Leguizamo. Penned by Will Aldis, the film centers on a young man, played by Robinson, who has never had a drink in his life but joins an Alcoholics Anonymous group just to be near the woman of his dreams, the titular ex-stripper/hooker (Dawson) with loads of personal demons. Filming is set to begin next month. [Variety]
