Last fall we learned about The Discovery,a new film from writer/director Charlie MacDowell, whose debut feature The One I Love was not only one of our favorites around here, but made a big splash on the indie scene. The film was to star Rooney Mara and Nicholas Hoult, which was definitely promising, but little had been heard of it since then. Now as filming is set to begin there have been some major changes at the top, with a pair of new actors coming aboard, including one screen legend.
Hoult has apparently dropped out, replaced by Jason Segel and the great Robert Redford. They join Mara who is still on board to star in the romance set in a world where the afterlife has been confirmed to exist. Redford is the man who made the incredible discovery, with Segel as his son who falls in love with a woman with a tragic past.
So this sounds pretty great and one to keep an eye out for. What's Up Newport says the film will begin shooting this month in Rhode Island.
