'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Deleted Scenes Revealed In First Look Images

Can you believe we're only a week away from Star Wars: The Force Awakens being released digitally, and only days later on Blu-Ray and DVD? It's pretty remarkable considering the film is still out there racking up dollars at a record-setting pace, currently standing at over $2B worldwide. Part of the home release will be all of the deleted scenes J.J. Abrams left on the cutting room floor, and he's shared with EW some photos of those scenes and revealed why he dropped them from the theatrical cut...

“There are so many things that end up getting cut because of the greater good, because of the rhythm of the sequence or the need to get on with it, a sense of redundancy,”Abrams said. “You don’t know any of these things when you’re making the movie, of course. It was sometimes after months of working on something that you realize finally — you just don’t need it.”

Here's the list of deleted moments included on the home release:

  • Finn, still as FN-2187 has a crisis of conscience while encountering a woman on Jakku
  • a digital exclusive scene featuring a run-in between Finn, Han, and Chewie with Stormtroopers in Maz Kanata's club
  • Kylo Ren leads a squad of stormtroopers to the Millennium Falcon on Starkiller Base.
  • a deleted scene involving General Leia that would have introduced her into the story much sooner.
  • Poe Dameron leading his squadron of X-wing pilots into lightspeed
  • Rey watching over the injured Finn following their lightsaber battle with Kylo Ren
  • Finn and Rey in a snowspeeder chase on Starkiller Base.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits digital on April 1st, followed by the Blu-Ray/DVD combo on April 5th. Order yours here now!
