The more things change, the more they stay the same. It's been twelve years since we last saw Renee Zellwegger's Bridget Jones in sequel Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, and at the time she was engaged to the man of her dreams, Colin Firth's Mark Darcy. She had finally chosen him over Daniel (Hugh Grant) and was ready to live happily ever after. But now it's 2016, and with the arrival of Bridget Jones's Baby, we see that she's still single, closer to middle age, and...well, obviously there's a baby involved.
The first trailer for the film shows Bridget living the exciting life she's always wanted to lead, but there's one problem: she's pregnant and isn't sure who the father is. It could either be Mark's, or her new love interest, Jack, played by Patrick Dempsey. So while things have certainly changed, Bridget's love life is still a mess, which is exactly what adoring fans of Helen Fielding's books want from their plucky heroine.
Directed by the returning Sharon Maguire, Bridget Jones's Baby opens September 18th.
