Steven Spielberg And Harrison Ford Returning For 'Indiana Jones 5' In 2019!

Well, this was always bound to happen, wasn't it? When Disney made that epic purchase of Lucasfilm, part of the package was the Indiana Jones franchise. And while most of the attention has rightfully been on Star Wars, rumors have been going around for a few years whether Harrison Ford return as Indy, or if someone like Chris Pratt would take over. Well, now we have the answer to that question and a date for when the film will actually arrive.

Disney has announced Indiana Jones 5 will hit theaters on June 19th 2019, and not only will Ford don the fedora once again, but Steven Spielberg will be directing, just as he's done the previous four movies. Here's a statement from Disney Chairman Alan Horn...

“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019. It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”

Obviously there are no plot ideas going around yet, and there's always still the possibility of Ford passing the torch to someone younger. Then again they tried that with 'Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' and nobody liked the idea of going on more adventures with Shia LaBeouf. With a Blade Runner sequel and obviously Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Ford is experiencing a career resurgence by revisiting his most iconic roles.
