*UPDATE* 'Batman v Superman' actually opened lower than yesterday's estimates, instead hitting $51.8M for a 69% drop from the previous week.
1. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice- $52.3M/$261.4M
You might have heard the uproar, especially from Zack Snyder critics howling with glee, when reports surfaced that 'Batman v Superman' had tumbled a record 81% in its second Friday. Some took it as confirmation of their negative assessment of the film, which is ludicrous. And ultimately it didn't really stand over the course of the weekend. The superhero film did fall a sizable 68% overall, which is the 7th biggest drop for a major superhero movie. But, keep this in mind, there are nearly always huge drops when the opening weekend is as big as 'Batman v Superman' was. As it stands, the amount it earned this week ranks as the 26th best of all-time, and its $261.4M domestic haul the 10th biggest for the same stretch. But you won't see headlines lead off with that, of course. Now that's not to say everything is aces. Clearly the negative buzz has caused it to take a hit, but at this point it's nearing $700M worldwide and will probably end with $900M+. Not even Doomsday can kill numbers like that.
2. Zootopia- $20M/$275.9M
3. My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2- $11.1M/$36.4M
4. God's Not Dead 2- $8.1M
Critics, both the religious sort and those inclined towards atheism, had a field day bashing God's Not Dead 2, the sequel to 2014's faith-based hit which scored a robust $62M wile facing off against Darren Aronofsky's much larger Noah. The sequel earned only $8.1M, which is less than the original even though it is on more screens. While these movies are usually critic proof, it means something when the target community has negative crap to say about it, and that may have sent audiences to see Miracles from Heaven instead. The film stars Melissa Joan Hart, sadly not as Clarissa or Sabrina, as a teacher who is sued by those heathens at the ACLU for having the gall to mention God in class. Victimhood complex much?
5. Miracles from Heaven- $7.5M/$46.8M
6. The Divergent Series: Allegiant- $5.7M/$56.3M
7. 10 Cloverfield Lane- $4.7M/$63.5M
8. Meet the Blacks- $4M
Somebody somewhere thought a Mike Epps-led spoof of The Purge was a good idea. Audiences, what few of them there were, felt differently. Meet the Blacks, which had some of the worst TV spots seen this year, opened in a little over 1000 theaters and earned $4M. That said, it's unlikely much money was spent on this, probably about as much as Marlon Wayans spends on his annual spoof fests, and if that's the case don't be surprised if there's a Meet the Blacks 2 next year.

10. Deadpool- $3.5M/$355.1M
