Is This The Real Enemy In Zack Snyder's 'Justice League'?
*POTENTIAL SPOILER* Take this with a superheroic amount of salt considering the source, but a new rumor has surfaced from Heroic Hollywood's El Mayimbe that suggests Darkseid isn't the real villain of Zack Snyder's upcoming Justice League films. According to him, Batman (Ben Affleck) will gather up the team not to face the threat of Darkseid, as was teased in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but to battle against an invasion by Atlantis, the underwater home of Aquaman (Jason Momoa).
In a way, this makes some degree of sense and calls back to those rumors from a couple of years ago that had Aquaman upset over a threat to the oceans. If true, the story would be based loosely on Geoff Johns' 2012 comics story, "Throne of Atlantis", that saw Aquaman's allegiance split when his brother King Orn wages war against the surface world over a perceived threat to Atlantis.
This would actually be a great story to use, and would explain why Amber Heard will appear in Justice League as Aquaman's wife, Mera. And Aquaman did look pretty pissed down there in his underwater 'Batman v Superman' cameo, didn't he? But nothing is confirmed, obviously, and chances are we won't find anything out for a while yet. Justice League opens next year on November 17th.
