Atari Classics Centipede And Missile Command Are Becoming Movies Now

Are video game movies poised to be the next big thing? With Warcraft, Assassin's Creed, and a rebooted Tomb Raider on the way or in development it was only a matter of time before the old school '80s games were brought to the big screen. And before you say "Hey, what about Pixels?", well that doesn't count.

Movies based on the classic 1980 Atari games Centipede and Missile Command are on the way, courtesy of produers Randall Emmett and George Furla.  The shooter games were incredibly popular, probably swallowing up enough quarters to run several small countries. Centipede had you shooting at a rapidly gaining centipede through a field of mushrooms while spiders and other creatures randomly attacked. Missile Command, which has actually been in the works for a while now, had you launching missiles in hopes that the ensuing blast radius destroys incoming rockets.

Of the two, only one has had a lot of screen time lately, and that is Centipede which was featured heavily in the aforementioned Pixels. Fortunately Adam Sandler has nothing to do with either of these movies....so far.
