Fede Alvarez's Evil Dead remake may not have been what traditionalists of Sam Raimi's franchise might have expected, but it showed him to be a director willing to take the classic in a bold new direction. Alvarez's next film isn't a continuation of Ash's demonic adventures (tune to Starz's Ash vs Evil Dead series for that), but a trek into invasion thriller territory with Don't Breathe, which has just debuted a solid first trailer.
Alvarez reunites with star Evil Dead star Jane Levy, along with Dylan Minnette, Daniel Zovatto, and Stephen Lang for a film about three teens who attempt to rob a blind Gulf War veteran's home. While they expected to pull off the perfect crime, things don't go as planned when he turns out to be more dangerous than bargained for.
The film took SXSW by storm and looks like it could be the next indie thriller to break out into the mainstream. Don't Breathe opens August 26th.
