Mark Millar's 'Empress' Comic Is About To Become A Movie

Wanted, Kick-Ass, Kingsman: The Secret Service...is there any question why Hollywood loves Mark Millar?  The comics scribe has had the Midas Touch for creating action-packed, timely stories that become huge blockbusters, and now his latest piece, Empress, is next on the list.

Millar has teamed up with producers Joe Roth (Alice in Wonderland) and Jeff Kirschenbaum, plus screenwriter F. Scott Frazier (XXX: The Return of Xander Cage) to bring Empress to theaters. The story is a nifty one, too, centering on the wife of a galactic overlord who decides to leave her husband and take their kids with her. Here's the comic's synopsis, which has all the smugness we've come to expect from Millar. You can tell he wrote it himself.

"Imagine you're married to the worst bad guy from your favorite sci-fi movie. An alien dictator feared throughout the universe, who will kill you if you leave- but you need to escape for the sake of your three children. All you have are your wits, your bodyguard, and three guns. Welcome to EMPRESS, your new favorite comic."

All of this comes just days after Millar struck deals to see his comics American Jesus and Supercrooks adapted. He also has Nemesis, Chrononauts, Starlight, and other projects in development at various stages.
