Marvel Confirms Incredible Cast For 'Thor: Ragnarok'

While Marvel has been free to take a few risks in casting many of the leads for their films (Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., and Chris Evans were not sure things at the time, people), they've stacked the supporting casts with proven veterans. The Thor franchise has had it pretty good in terms of star power already, but Thor: Ragnarok is shaping up to be the most impressive cast yet.

Previously rumored some months ago, Marvel has now confirmed Cate Blanchett, Tessa Thompson, Jeff Goldblum, Mark Ruffalo, and Karl Urban for the film. They've also revealed their characters, and mostly they fall in line with expectations. Ruffalo will obviously be playing the Hulk in what is being called a superhero buddy comedy; Cate Blanchett is Hela, the Norse goddess of Death; Thompson is Valkyrie, which is sure to piss off a few people; Urban is the powerful villain Skurge the Executioner; and Goldblum is perfectly cast as the immortal strategist known as Grandmaster.

They join Hemsworth, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins, and Tom Hiddleston in the Taika Waititi-directed film, opening on November 3rd 2017.
