Michael Fassbender Serves The Light In First 'Assassin's Creed' Trailer


So what's the narrative going to be surrounding Justin Kurzel's Assassin's Creed all the way up until it hits theaters? Simple; that it has a pretty decent shot at being the the rare case of a really good video game adaptation. And to do it Kurzel has reunited with Marion Cotillard and Michael Fassbender, the stars of his gritty version of Hamlet, and now the first trailer for the film has arrived.

Fans of the bestselling game are bound to be pleased by the faithfulness seen in this footage. All of the wall-jumping, acrobatics, and quick combat is there, along with familiar elements such as the Knights Templar and the mysterious Abstergo Industries. Fassbender plays Callum Lynch, who is forced to experience the memories of his 15th-century ancestor, a member of a secret society of Assassins. Here is the official synopsis:

"Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day."

Also starring Jeremy Irons, Michael K. Williams, and Brendan Gleeson, Assassin's Creed opens December 21st.
