Mila Kunis And Bryan Cranston Hit The 'Jackpot', Teyonah Parris Is A 'Buffalo Soldier Girl'
Bryan Cranston and Mila Kunis are set to try their luck in Jackpot, an adaptation of popular Norwegian author Jo Nesbo's book, and a remake of the 2011 action-comedy. Dave Callaham (The Expendables) wrote the script with Will Gluck (Easy A) directing the story of a man who wakes up in a bar with a shotgun in his hands, surrounded by dead men and armed cops. The tone is likely to be close to the blisteringly funny Headhunters, which is also based on a Nesbo novel. Jennifer Garner is in talks for a role and some sites are mentioning Armie Hammer, as well, although Deadline doesn't mention him.
Chi-Raq and Dear White People breakout Teyonah Parris will be a Buffalo Soldier Girl for director Christine Swanson. The screenplay by acclaimed novelist Sarah Bird is inspired by history and follows a woman who disguises herself as a man to fight alongside the famous African-American "Buffalo Soldiers" regiment post-Civil War. Sounds like it could be Parris' most powerful role yet, and I can't wait to see the cast that forms around her. [Deadline]
