Rudd is set to headline The Catcher was a Spy, which is based on the true story of Moe Berg, an Ivy Leaguer who spoke multiple languages and played major league baseball for 15 years. Little did everyone know, he was also a spy working for the OSS and helped America beat out the Germans in a race to create the Atomic Bomb.
There's some interesting talent behind this one, too. Directing will be Ben Lewin who had a festival darling a few years ago with The Sessions, and he'll be working from a script by Saving Private Ryan screenwriter Robert Rodat. The lead role had originally been pegged for George Clooney, which goes to show just how highly Rudd is regarded nowadays. [Deadline]
