Ridley Scott To Direct Brutal Western 'Wraiths Of The Broken Land'

You're going to be hearing a lot about, and seeing a lot from, director/author S. Craig Zahler in the coming months. His horror-Western Bone Tomahawk caught a lot of attention, and recently he signed on for his next film, the awesomely-titled Brawl in Cell Block 99 starring Vince Vaughn. So what is he up to now? How about having one of his books adapted by the team behind last year's smash, The Martian?

Ridley Scott will direct and Drew Goddard will pen an adaptation of Zahler's novel, Wraiths of the Broken Land. And if that title didn't tell you enough, this promises to be another down 'n dirty Western with plenty of violence.  The story centers on two brothers brutally blasting through foes to rescue their sisters who have been kidnapped and forced into prostitution.

Here's the problem: Scott is neck deep in Alien: Covenant and the promised sequels, so it could be a while before this gets moving. A shame because it sounds like the most interesting project he's got going. Meanwhile, Zahler is also penning a remake of the cult favorite horror, Puppet Master, which is amazing all by itself.
