Ron Perlman Thinks He'd Be A Great Cable In The 'Deadpool 2'

Ron Perlman can usually be found campaigning for one role or another. Over the last few years he's been lobbying Guillermo Del Toro for a third Hellboy film, although that seems unlikely to ever happen. So now he's turned his attention to another comic book hero, Cable, who is expected to be in the Deadpool sequel.

Perlman hit Facebook to post a couple of side-by-side images of himself next to shots of Cable. And to his credit, they share the same square head, gray hair, and affinity for gigantic weaponry.

Cable is turning out to be a popular pick for aging actors with cinder block heads. Avatar actor Stephen Lang and Ivan Drago himself, Dolph Lundgren, have expressed their interest in playing the futuristic mutant soldier.

Here's the thing: none of these guys are going to get it, and that goes double for Lundgren. Period. Yeah, Perlman's a popular actor among the geek crowd but 20th Century Fox is likely to aim a bit younger for the role because there is tremendous franchise potential in it. Cable, who happens to be the son of Scott "Cyclops" Summers and a clone of Jean Grey, is the eternal foe of the villain Apocalypse and the creator of the X-Force team which is expected to get a movie soon. So he's going to be sticking around for a while when he finally does appear, and chances are his origin will be changed significantly.

Deadpool 2 arrives in 2017 with Ryan Reynolds back as the Merc with a Mouth and Tim Miller again in the director's chair.
