Angelina Jolie Boards 'Murder On The Orient Express' Remake

Angelina Jolie doesn't act as much as she used to, unless it's in movies she's directing herself like last year's By the Sea alongside husband Brad Pitt. But when she does, it's going to be in something big, and certainly her newest role qualifies. Jolie has boarded Kenneth Branagh's upcoming adaptation of Murder On the Orient Express, based on the classic mystery by Agatha Christie.

Variety has the news of Jolie entering talks for the film, which will also see Branagh starring as detective Hercule Poirot. Christie's 1934 novel centered on the detective's investigation into an American's murder aboard the famous train, with an entire passenger list of suspects. Sidney Lumet directed an Oscar-nominated adaptation in 1974 that featured a stacked cast of Hollywood icons such as Lauren Bacall, Albert Finney, Ingrid Bergman, Sean Connery, and Vanessa Redgrave. Looks as if Branagh is trying to make his just as star-powered.

No start date or release schedule yet but Michael Green (Blade Runner 2) is hard at work on the script.
