Domhnall Gleeson Confirmed For Winnie The Pooh Film, 'Goodbye Christopher Robin'
When you think of the many Winnie the Pooh characters populating the Hundred Acre Wood, the one you probably don't think of first is Christopher Robin. Everybody loves the silly ol' honey-loving bear, but it's his friendship with Robin that is integral to the story, and as it turns out he was based on author A.A. Milne's son. The story of Milne and his son is being brought to screens with the drama Goodbye Christopher Robin, which we already know will feature Margot Robbie in a key role, and now she's being joined by an actor who has long been rumored for it.
Domhnall Gleeson is set to play Milne in the film, just as the reports suggested a couple of months ago. Simon Curtis (My Week with Marilyn) is at the helm of the biopic centering on Milne's relationship with his son, Christopher Robin, who along with his many stuffed animals became the inspiration for the popular Pooh novels. Robbie will play Milne's wife, Daphne, who is swept up in the books' international success right along with him. Fox Searchlight is behind this one (they announced the news today) so don't get it confused with Disney's live-action Winnie the Pooh film.
This has prestige picture written all over it, and may do for Gleeson what Finding Neverland did for Johnny Depp, which is thrust him right into the Oscar race.
