Nicole Kidman Joins Colin Farrell In Revenge Movie 'The Killing Of A Sacred Deer'

Nicole Kidman is an entering arguably the most interesting phase of her career. While she's no longer the huge star she once was, her name still has a lot of clout and has bolstered a number of smaller productions, such as the literary drama Genius (in theaters now), Strangerland, Garth Davis' Lion, and John Cameron Mitchell's How to Talk to Girls at Parties. She's even doing more work on TV, such as HBO's upcoming adaptation of Little White Lies and Jane Campion's Top of the Lake: China Girl. And now she's added another intriguing project by joining Yorgos Lanthimos' The Killing of a Sacred Deer.

Lanthimos' follow-up to The Lobster reunites him with Colin Farrell, and is loosely inspired by Euripedes with supernatural elements. The revenge story centers on a charismatic surgeon who sees his ideal life threatened when he tries to integrate a troubled teenage boy into his family. When the boy's intentions turn sinister the doctor is forced to make an unthinkable sacrifice. Kidman is on board to play Farrell's wife.

Filming begins this August so we should hopefully see this in theaters in 2017. [THR]
