Noomi Rapace Will Be Back For 'Alien: Covenant' After All
There's been a big change in Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant...sort of. It's actually a move that sets things back to the way we always expected them to be, with Noomi Rapace reprising her role as Elizabeth Shaw.
Deadline reports Rapace is on set shooting a few weeks worth of scenes for the Prometheus sequel, this despite being cut from the film some months back. It was always a strange move considering Shaw was one of only a couple characters who survived Prometheus, right alongside Michael Fassbender's android David. The two set off to find the mysterious Engineers at the end of the film, but something has changed in the meantime to split them up. Since the new story centers on an entirely different crew of space explorers, it's possible we only see Shaw in flashback.
Rapace joins Fassbender and a cast that includes Demian Bichir, Katherine Waterston, Carmen Ejogo, Danny McBride, Jussie Smolett, Amy Siemetz, Callie Hernandez, and Billy Crudup. Alien: Covenant opens August 4th 2017.
SYNOPSIS: Set as the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus, Alien: Covenant connects directly to Ridley Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. It begins with the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. There, the crew discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
