It's not always easy for stand-up comedians to make the transition to acting in major feature films, but Hannibal Buress is doing a pretty good job of it. After appearing in the Tom Sawyer/Huck Finn crime comedy Band of Robbers last year, Buress has lined up roles in The Masterpiece opposite Dave and James Franco, the Baywatch remake with Dwayne Johnson, and will lend his voice to this summer's The Secret Life of Pets. He recently appeared in The Nice Guys and reprised his comedic role in Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising. Now he's landed his first superhero film by joining Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming.
As cameras officially begin rolling on the anticipated Spidey film, Buress has joined the cast along with relative unknowns Isabella Amara (The Boss), Jorge Lendeborg Jr. (The Land) and J.J. Totah (Other People). The past few days have seen Donald Glover, Logan Marshall-Green, and Martin Starr added in roles that are being kept a mystery. Tom Holland is starring as Peter Parker, with Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Michael Keaton possibly as The Vulture, plus Zendaya Coleman, Tony Revolori, Laura Harrier, and Michael Barbieri.
