Steven Spielberg Makes A Carefully Worded Promise About 'Indiana Jones 5'
Despite prior claims by Steven Spielberg and producer Frank Marshall that Harrison Ford would be the only actor to ever play Indiana Jones, fans have had reason to be concerned. For one thing, Ford's other iconic character, Han Solo, has been sent to the great Mos Eisley cantina in Heaven, so why not Indy?
Well fear not, because in an extensive interview with THR Spielberg has made a pretty big promise about Indiana Jones's fate in the upcoming film...
"I think this one is straight down the pike for the fans. The one thing I will tell you is I’m not killing off Harrison [Ford] at the end of it."
He didn't give any further details, such as how a 73-year-old Ford can be expected to continue carrying the franchise. Let's face it, at some point Disney is going to have to make some hard choices. The character is going to need to be recast somehow, or there will need to be a passing of the torch. The longer they try to deny this the bigger hole they're digging.
Maybe Spielberg's being literal and he won't kill Indy at the end, but at the beginning? Hmmmm.....
Indiana Jones 5 opens July 19th 2019 with a script by David Koepp.
