*UPDATE* 'Agents of SHIELD' to Introduce Ghost Rider to the MCU

UPDATE: It's been confirmed that Gabriel Luna will be playing the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider, who in the comics sported a badass muscle car rather than the usual motorcycle. We'll see how much of that makes it into the show, but here's the actual teaser for the upcoming season!

Though rumors have been hitting for months I can honestly say this has me floored. There are always wild rumors of one kind or another, 90% of which don't come to pass...not even remotely. Yet, here we are, SDCC 2016 has given us the above poster and confirmation that Ghost Rider will be hitting the streets filled by Phil Coluson and Skye (I refuse to go with the new name, Daisy) during the next season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. This won't be the Johnny Blaze version of Ghost Rider popular to most due to, or in spite of, the Nic Cage films but rather Robbie Reyes a version of the cult character who came to be the spirit of vengeance after being shot down by gangsters when trying to win money for his paralyzed brother in an illegal street race.

This is such an odd choice...I'm sure they have some reasoning but I just don't see it fitting, visually for the most part. I mean Daredevil and Punisher, sure! Two cats of the same litter but a biker who takes the form of a flaming skull seems a far stretch for a series who's visual range has peaked at Deathlok  a cyborg who, in the series, had no outward cyborgian traits. Agents of  SHIELD has been in and out of favor almost consistently since it's debut so maybe this signifies a shake up that will launch the series to new heights, or send it plummeting to the depths of hell (Melodramatic, yes, but I had to tie in to Ghost Rider somehow). The obvious question is how he will look, that's where the introduction of this character will be made or broken. Seeing as how the best look we've got so far is the above poster it would appear judgement must be reserved.

Bonus: They're really pushing this, coating entire buses in San Diego with the advert!
